How the Homeowners Connected With C&R
Owners of this home attended a C&R Kitchen & Bath Seminar hoping to glean ideas and learn about bathroom remodeling. They came away with the information they needed to begin the process of remodeling their master bathroom and bedroom.
They first met with C&R’s Remodeling Consultant Doug Lethin to determine a budget for their project. They then began working with C&R Interior Designer Katya Grisaffi to collaborate on the design, material selections, and preparations. Mark Meyer was C&R’s Project Manager for the construction phase.
Lofty Remodeling Goals
The existing bathroom was built at a time when carpet was the floor covering of choice. Although carpet is soft on the feet, it is difficult to clean and maintain in a “wet” environment. They wanted a flooring material that performed well in a bathroom. They also wanted the materials to be as beautiful as they were functional.
Their ultimate hope was to create a space that would nurture them both physically and emotionally.
Materials were selected to create a design that was aesthetically pleasing and easily maintained.
To create a private, spa-like atmosphere in the bathroom, a new door was planned between the bathroom and master bedroom. Previously, the two areas opened into each other without an option for complete privacy.
A large barrier free shower was designed to promote spaciousness as well as provide ease of use. Tile selections and layout would tie the spa tub and shower together.
Heated tile flooring throughout would provide the ultimate in comfort and durability.
- Build a wall and install a privacy door between the master bedroom and bathroom to create two separate but conveniently adjoining areas.
- Construct a separate toilet room to provide additional privacy.
- Update materials and paint in master bedroom to relate to the new master bathroom.
- Add remodeling of the hall bathroom to provide an updated, consistent style throughout the house.
Project In Progress: Details
Completed Master Bathroom
The master suite remodel was a complete success. A soft, soothing color palette pairs well with the warmth of the wood millwork and trim. Easy-to-clean large format tiles on the floor and walls are accented with patterned deco tile. The large shower is conveniently barrier-free and features both a rainfall shower head and an adjustible hand-held shower wand. The corner bench and niche complete the shower amenities. Tile floors are warm and comfortable while providing easy maintenance. The gleaming spa tub has a wide deck to allow easy entry and exit. Coordinating granite countertops set off the undermount sinks. Custom mirrors add current style to the completely updated bathroom.
